History of School For Teens with Learning Disabilities

History of Compass High School

Compass High School was founded in March of 2012 by a group of parents and educators concerned about the need for a school for special education in the Bay Area that is specifically designed for students with learning differences. Our vision is to simultaneously provide integrated services and support and a comprehensive college preparatory program.

School that Serves Students with Learning Differences

We opened our doors in August of 2013 with a class of ninth and tenth graders and now serve students in grades 9 through 12. We spent our first year in a temporary location in Redwood Shores and then moved to our own campus in San Mateo in June, 2014. We have experienced significant growth in our enrollment and have exciting plans for our continued expansion.

The reason more and more students are enrolling in our school is because we approach teaching differently. Our staff is comprised of highly specialized teachers and counselors that are on site ready to help. Our integrated and multi-sensory teaching approach helps students grow at their own pace, while providing college preparatory services.
