Kai Marks
Director of Curriculum

Kai Marks joins Compass High School as the Director of Curriculum after more than twenty years in the field of education and in working with students who learn differently. She holds undergraduate degrees in English and Latin-American Studies from Notre Dame de Namur University, and She also holds a Master of Arts in Writing and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of San Francisco. Kai is passionate about teaching and learning. While teaching writing at the University of San Francisco, she was the recipient of USF’s Lecturer of the Year award, and she has taught in multiple settings, including middle school, high school, and college—in both public and private schools. In addition to teaching, she has also served as an instructional coach, a BTSA mentor, a coordinator of curriculum and professional development, an academic program director, and more. She is also passionate about accreditation processes and has served on several WASC and CAIS visiting teams and has coordinated multiple self-study processes for schools. When she is not supporting students and teachers or writing a self-study document, she likes to visit Disneyland so that she can be reminded that anything—and everything—is possible.
