Current Parent

"Compass has turned out to be a good place for [my son] to feel emotionally safe and available to learn. I think the best thing about Compass is the number of talented teachers."

Current Parent

"It is very difficult to find a program for a child, who needs some extra help and support, a child, who is learning at a pace different from regular peers. The first time I visited Compass High School I was not only impressed, I was shocked, in a good way! "

Current Parent

"There is a very high level of individualization, school truly "teaches each and every child"

Current Parent

"Different methods, tools, technology, are used to accommodate kids with different learning challenges and learning styles."

Compass High Student

“The most impactful part of Compass are the small classes and really being able to connect with the teachers. I feel comfortable making a mistake because my teacher's know it is a part of the learning process.”

Compass High Student

”Teachers will work with us instead of giving up on us.”

Letter From The Head of School:

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about Compass High School as we are in an exciting stage of development as an innovative college preparatory program for bright students with learning disabilities.

I personally am excited to be a new member of this community, learning from the many talented teachers, staff, and students, and working together to help create the type of school environment that will allow our students to thrive.

Compass High School was founded in March of 2012 by a group of parents and educators concerned about the need for a school on the San Francisco Peninsula that was specifically designed for students with learning differences. From the start, our mission at Compass High School has been to provide a supportive, individualized education for talented students with learning differences.

Our staff works together using a treatment team approach, comprised of highly trained teachers and specialized therapists all collaborating to address the needs of our students in a holistic way. By utilizing evidence-based curriculum and techniques, our students have developed learning strategies, social competence, and self-advocacy skills that enable them to succeed

We hope our website will give you a brief overview of the unique program we have created. For further information, please give us a call and learn more about how our transformational program can make a positive difference in the life of your child.

Sincerely,

Mark Kushner
Interim Head of School, Compass High School
